Week 5: The Sunday Research Board
Our Week 5 main-slate thesis, five scoring families, injury decisions and weather review. Saturday record; Sunday actives pending.
DraftKings Main · Sunday, October 11, 2026 · 11 games · first lock 1 PM ET.
This is our Saturday research record. Board reviewed October 10 at 7:21 PM ET; news and weather checked through 7:04 PM ET. Sunday game-day inactives are pending. Read the date before acting on a player’s status.
The week’s central idea
Detroit–Arizona is the foundation of our current main-slate work. We can build around Arizona’s passing game and bring back Jahmyr Gibbs, or take Detroit’s passing production through Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Those are different scoring stories inside the same game.
The important question is what each complete roster needs to happen. Changing the quarterback does little to spread risk if every build still relies on the same inexpensive receivers and uncertain backfields. Our separate lineup-generation review clustered heavily around Detroit–Arizona; that supports reviewing the game carefully, but does not establish an ownership forecast or an edge.
Main slate · five research families
| Family | Players to study together | Scoring story / review point |
|---|---|---|
| Arizona–Detroit | Jacoby Brissett · Trey McBride · Gibbs | Arizona passing production and Detroit’s running-back scoring can coexist. Review Michael Wilson and McBride together if Arizona’s target allocation changes. |
| Detroit passing | Goff · St. Brown · Sam LaPorta | Choose how the touchdowns are distributed. Adding every Detroit piece costs salary and leaves fewer ways for another game to separate the roster. |
| New England–Las Vegas | Drake Maye · Romeo Doubs · Brock Bowers | A separate game story. The Raiders’ backfield remains a branch to resolve, rather than an automatic cheap-player upgrade. |
| Chicago–Pittsburgh | Tyson Bagent · Luther Burden · DK Metcalf | Study the Chicago passing allocation and a Pittsburgh response. Low quarterback salary only helps when the full roster uses the savings well. |
| Seattle–San Francisco | Sam Darnold · Jaxon Smith-Njigba · George Kittle | Another passing-game path. Recheck Seattle’s backfield before leaning on Emanuel Wilson, and keep the later kickoff in mind when arranging flexible slots. |
These are candidate families from our reviewed board, not mandatory stacks or complete entry recommendations. A losing team can still supply a strong fantasy score. Compare plausible close-game and trailing-game paths before narrowing the pool.
The injury decision table
| Evidence to wait for | What it changes | Decision rule |
|---|---|---|
| Ladd McConkey officially out, with supported Tre’ Harris routes | Harris becomes a receiver alternative to price into the whole roster. | Both availability and role matter. An early player’s 1 PM lock cannot be reopened by later inactives. |
| Ashton Jeanty officially out, with a supported Mike Washington lead role | The Raiders’ entire backfield scenario needs a fresh price and opportunity review. | Do not mix an “out” assumption with projections that still allocate Jeanty his regular work. |
| Rico Dowdle has a credible, meaningful role | Reassess Jaylen Warren’s opportunity; Aaron Jones is a candidate alternative only if his own availability is supported. | Being active alone does not tell us the workload. |
| Seattle’s backfield allocation weakens Emanuel Wilson’s opportunity | Reconsider that salary slot and Kittle as a flexible-slot alternative. | Review the whole roster and repeated exposure before making the same change everywhere. |
| Marvin Harrison Jr. active with material target involvement | Reassess Michael Wilson and McBride together. | An active designation is not an automatic fade; meaningful expected involvement is the issue. |
Weather · Cleveland at the Jets
Our Saturday forecast check showed sustained winds around 10–13 mph, gusts around 25–31 mph and a high rain probability during the early window at MetLife. That is a forecast, not observed field conditions. KC Concepcion and other offensive pieces in this game need a near-lock review.
If the weather still threatens the intended passing-game path, Roman Wilson is one alternative from our board. Compare the complete salary and defense combination; a receiver swap is not free of opportunity cost.
Before the first lock
- Confirm game-day availability and expected work, especially the replacement-player branches above.
- Recheck MetLife conditions and the assumptions behind Cleveland–Jets offense.
- Compare full rosters. Track repeated cheap players as carefully as repeated quarterbacks.
- Leave later players in flexible slots where the roster rules allow it; make decisions before the outgoing player locks.
Generated lineup frequency is not projected field ownership. Our current review does not measure contest-specific win rate, duplication or expected profit. Those require the actual contest and a suitable model.
Showdown · a separate room
Single-game work stays separate from this main-slate board. Each Showdown review starts with confirmed availability and opportunity, then compares complete Captain/Flex scoring stories and salary tradeoffs. Captain upside, duplication and expected profit are distinct questions. No Week 5 Showdown card is being claimed as final in this Saturday main-slate update.
What stays in the weekly record
Each week keeps its thesis, decision table and information cutoff. After the games, we can review which assumptions held, which roles changed and whether the construction matched the intended outcome. Later results will be dated additions; the pre-lock record remains visible.
